Ørje sluices on the Halden watercourse have three sluice gates and a height difference of 10 metres. They are over 150 years old and are still operated manually.

The name Vassfaret has always been linked with bears - this area became well-known as the last home for a wild bear population in Norway.

The brown bear is the largest land-based predator in Europe and is not to be trifled with. The male can grow to 2.3 metres and weigh up to 350 kg! They are quite a sight as they roam around in Flå, in the lower reaches of Hallingdal valley.

Brekkeparken, Skien
The large park was established 1810-15 in the "english style". Here you will find a large number of authentic farm buildings from all over Telemark County. The museum also has a restaurant, a gazebo, a pavilion, a playground and more. One of the main attractions is the manor house of Brekke. In spring the park is a beautiful sight with thousands of tulips.

The former Kistefos Wood Pulp Mill is today an industrial museum and the only remaining Scandinavian wood pulp mill. Besides presenting an important chapter of Norwegian industrial history, the museum offers annual art exhibitions by both Norwegian and international artists.

Here there are photographs and objects which show the history of cement in Slemmestad. Fossiles, rocks and minerals reveal the area's world-renowned geology. The former "Sack Factory" in Slemmestad houses the Geology Centre, the Cement Museum and the Public Library. The museum provides an overview of 100 years of development and change within the cement production industry.

The Sandefjord Museum (also called Commander Christen Christensen's Whaling Museum or Hvalfangstmuseet) is Europe's only specialized museum on the subject of whales and whaling. A natural history section is centered around a full-sized model of a blue whale. The cultural history exhibition shows whaling on a world basis.

The medieval farm was constructed for the filming of the novel "Kristin Lavransdatter" in 1994. 16 buildings and a consecrated stave church.
