About Monshouwer
He was born in 1955 in Dordrecht, The Netherlands. After four years of middle technical general education He went to the Artistic School for gold and .. smith in Schoonhoven, the most famous school of the country. In 1980 he opened his own shop and workshop in Veere in the south west of the Netherlands. The gallery is situated in the small town of Risøyhamn right across the quay where the Hurtigrut – the cruise boat company – lands.

The museum has been recently established and has yet to acquire permanent premises. Temporary exhibitions will therefore be on display at a variety of rented location.
During the summer, Sortland Museum will also be presenting, in collaboration with the Sortland Municipal Council, the interior furnishings from the old wharf at the Jennestad Trading Post which is located approx. 9 km north of Sortland. The wharf building was built in 1863 and includes, amongst other things, a country store and offices for the shipping agent's, the postal service and the graphite mine.
The museum also has a small school exhibition at the old middle school in Sortland town centre. This unit is open by prior arrangement only.

Monday to Thursday 10 to 16 hours
21 august to 1 June:
Only Fridays from 10 to 16 hours
