A surfaced road of 19 kms (Toll road NOK 50) leads from the ferry quay to the glacier edge of Norway's 3rd largest glacier. Free parking at the Summerski centre abt. 1200 m. above sea level. Ski coaches from Jondal medio June-medio August. Norway's longest glacier ski lift, 1100 m length and 250 m height difference, glacier cafeteria with hot and cold dishes and light refreshments, large parking area, ski hire, ski school, well prepared slopes for alpine and snow board. Light and nice cross country terrain, prepared slopes on request. Hire of sledges to be used in the ski lift. Fine conditions for glacier hikes and glacier climbing on ice and snow with or without guide. An ideal starting point for attractive hikes to the top of the glacier abt. 1650 m.a.s.l. Scenic attractions.
Crossing the Folgefonna Glacier
Folgefonna lengthwise is a demanding, but spectacular spring skiing trip. Here, you’ll experience the contrasts between spring and winter, steep hills, the flat glacier plateau and excellent downhill skiing. This is a 2-day trip. We enjoy a good meal and spend the night at Holmaskjer or Fonnabu. As we make our way down the green hills towards Rosendal, the smell of spring will greet us. Safely down, you can visit the Rosendal Barony.
Folgefonna lengthwise, Jondal- Rosendal
This is a 2-day trip with overnight accommodation at Bergen Turlag’s cabin Fonnabu (or Holmaskjer). The first day we set off on a 10-hour leg, and on the second day we’ll spend 12 hours to reach Rosendal. At the Rosendal Barony, you can end the trip with exquisite food and comfortable beds. And maybe enjoy a concert…. Folgefonna Glacier and Jostedal Glacier lengthwise are Southern Norway two classic spring skiing experiences.
