Opening Times of Shops and Post Offices

The shops are open every day except Sundays, usually from 10.00 to 17.00 (or 18.00 on Thursdays). These opening times also apply to pharmacies, post offices and off- licences. In larger towns, shopping centres are open from 10.00 to 20.00 and 10.00 to 18.00 on Saturdays. Petrol stations in larger towns are often open 24 hours a day and also sell groceries.


Norwegians very often pay by credit card and therefore most shops take them. If you wish to exchange currency, you can do so at post offices or at shops with postal services in smaller towns and villages.

Book Overnight Accommodation in Advance

You are recommended to book overnight accommodation in advance, particularly during the summer.
