Path to Kjeåsen Mountain Farm

Kjeåsen mountain farm

The famous mountain farm lies like an eagle's nest on the steep fjellsiit, 530 m above Simafjord. Drive approx. 1.5 km past the Sima power station, and take first road on the left. The road to Kjeåsen is 5 km long. Half of the road goes through a tunnel without light. Kjeåsen is on the left after you come out of the tunnel. Driving: Driving every hour. Driving down the road every half hour. Hike up the steep mountain side (about 1.5 - 2 hours each way). Path ut to Kjeåsen moutain farm from Simadalen valley. Approx 1 hrs 30 min hard uphill walking. Great view.

Minibus to the Kjeåsen mountain farm

Enjoy a trip to the Kjeåsen mountain farm, which lies like an eagle’s nest 530m above the Simadalsfjord.

The bus takes you 7km to Simadal and 5km up the steep road built in the 1970’s during the construction of the
power plant. Half of the road goes through a tunnel without lights. Spectacular view on the top!

Opening hours: for groups only by appointment at the tourist information. The lady living there will welcome you on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Due to the fact that Kjeåsen still runs and operates as a farm, the daily life of their unique culture and farming methods can be experienced.

Fjord Cruise to Sima and Osafjord:

Join us as we sail into the breathtaking Simafjord, where the mountainsides tower steeply up from the banks of the fjord. Gaze up at the beautiful mountains and the quaint mountain farm of Kjeåsen at 530m above sea level. We then continue into the 18 km long and narrow Osafjord. The tour starts with minimum 20 persons.

Kjeåsen Trail

Starting from the parking lot at Sima power plant. The trail is well marked, but steep and demanding. Approx. 3-4 hours there and back.
