“Everything is cut and fileted in the shop, so the customers don’t have to buy fish that already spent a couple days on ice in western Norway,” says Brandstorp. As if to emphasize his point, a 100-kilogram (220 pound) porbeagle shark is delivered directly from the supplier, as one of two or three such deliveries a day. Shark is not on offer all that often. It could just as well be pike or perch from the Tyrifjord, or wild salmon from the Arctic coast of Finnmark County. And that may be why Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg buys all his fish cakes here and held his news conference on Norwegian salmon exports here instead of at his government offices.

Fiskieriet opens its restaurant on its premises for those who likes to have fish but do not want them to take home. Any one can eat Soup, sandwiches and snacks sitting inside, outside or just take away.

The biggest hit by far is their own Fish & Chips: But expect to wait as this dish alone has become popular enough to create crowds of lunch patrons circling around the tables like seagulls following a trawler - to borrow an image from Eric Cantona.
