Sør-Gjæslingan Fishing Village
This fishing village worthy of preservation is from the middle ages and was at that time the largest south of Lofoten. Here there is a distinctive cultural environment centred around adventure and authenticity. You sleep well in the fisherman shacks or in the recently restored fishing village owner's house. The fisherman shacks vary in size and together total 70 beds. There are also assembly rooms, sanitation facilities, an old shop, boat hire and possibilities for deep-sea fishing and refreshments. Boat departures from Rørvik and Namsos. Namdalen is in Sør-Trøndelag county.
Løvøen Farm, Lauvøya
Approx. 8 km from Sør-Gjæslingan you will find a newly restored main farm building from 1873 along with a farm cottage. 6-8 people can stay in each building, and you can go deep-sea fishing and hunting. Tel.: 74 39 21 22 Fax.: 74 39 21 78
Oasen in Namsos
This is the very Hall of Dreams. You will find Europe's most spectacular indoor swimming pool in a mountain in Namsos, 1.5 kilometers south of Namsos centre.
Oasen is a multiple-purpose pool measuring 4.000 m2. The need for an air-raid shelter combined with the desire to build a sports centre were the reasons behind the solution to build inside the mountain. The reward is great environmentally, not least regarding energy.
Oasen has resulted in an increase in swimming activity in Namsos, and five Norwegian championships have been arranged there.
Visit Oasen when you are in North Trøndelag. You can swim in a pool which is 50 meters long and of which there are only three in Norway. There is also a 37 meter long waterslide, jacuzzi, family pool and climbing wall. In addition you will find a health studio, sauna and solarium in Oasen. Grong Farm Food
Grong farm food, produce many different products of lamb and pork, their speciality is sauna smoking of meat. This kind of meat preparation is a local tradition from Namdalen and Grong Farm Food aim at preserves this tradition. In the store also sell local cheese, jelly, eggs, honey, traditional flat bread, Traditional Lefse spread (“bread spread”) - Namdalsgomme and local hand work.
