After just 1 hour by express boat from Bodø you arrive at this vibrant fisherman’s village, with long traditions in fishing and seafood preparations. Situated right by Vestfjorden, Helnessund offers excellent sea fishing, among the largest population of white-tailed eagles in the world. You can rent a boat to go fishing on your own, or join a local fisherman to his favorite shallows. Either way you are in for a great fishing experience, with the neighboring mountains of Lofoten on the horizon.
August 2009 a tourist in Helnessund broke the world record in halibut caught by fish pole, with a fish weighing 212 kg.
Helnessund is also a great base for a broad specter of other nature activities, such as mountain hiking, biking, kayaking, diving, or simply to enjoy being in such peaceful and spectacular surroundings.
We offer a total capacity of 50 beds in 20 newly renovated rooms and apartments, all with separate bathrooms and separate or shared kitchen facilities. The facilities are centrally located by the dock, next to the grocery store, gas station and Feskarkroa Pub & Cafe.
