Kistefos Museum

The former Kistefos Wood Pulp Mill is today an industrial museum and the only remaining Scandinavian wood pulp mill. Besides presenting an important chapter of Norwegian industrial history, the museum offers annual art exhibitions by both Norwegian and international artists.
This pulp mill museum exhibits a piece of Norwegian industrial history. In the art gallery, this year's exhibition is: "Tones from the willow flute. The Fleskum Artists." The Digital Guide allows Kistefos Museum to offer visitors a personal guide to the wood grindery at any time.
The old industry is brought back to life through hands-on history. There is also an art exhibition and a sculpture park in beautiful surroundings.
The Kistefos Museum is situated in beautiful surroundings by the river “Randselva” in Jevnaker, just an hour from Oslo and 45 minutes from Oslo Airport Gardermoen. The spacious park is lush and green and perfect for picnics. The sculpture park is an attraction in itself and the café is an idyllic oasis where one can have a delicious lunch and homemade cakes. In connection with the café you will find the museum shop.
The sculpture park was initiated in the late nineties, and has continued to grow each year. The first sculptures were mainly made by Norwegians. Today, however, the beautiful lawns surrounding the old factory buildings are filled with 24 works by internationally renowned contemporary artists such as Anish Kapoor, Fernando Bottero, Elmgreen & Dragset and Tony Cragg.
Within a decennium, the Sculpture Park has become one of the most comprehensive collections of outdoor sculpture in Norway. The encounter with Kistefos-Museet is thus an encounter with magnificent nature, art and culture, continuously changing and expanding. The café is an idyllic oasis where one can have a delicious lunch, homemade cakes or enjoy a cup of fresh coffee. In connection with the café you will find the museum shop.
Open 26/5 - 29/9: 12 - 17. Closed on Mondays except in July.
