Hardangervidda Nature Center, Eidfjord

Eidfjord is home to the Hardangervidda Nature Centre, which offers visitors displays of the fauna and flora of the Hardangervidda, and a special film of the mountain plateau. The village’s history dates back to the Iron Age and Viking eras, and Iron Age and Viking graves can be seen by the road at Hereid, a short walk from the village centre.

Hardangervidda Nature Center and museum is a modern and exciting natural and cultural experience center for Norwegian nature, climate and environment. The Panorama film Fjord Mountain Waterfall takes you on a journey of a helicopter over the high mountains, deep valleys, beautiful waterfalls, wild reindeer and pristine glaciers-an experience for the whole family. The tourist information recommends the Sightseeing in Eidfjord wild and beautiful tour. A 3-hour sightseeing tour in Eidfjord, including admission to the Hardangervidda Nature Centre and a tour up the Måbødalen valley with breathtaking views of the impressive Vøringsfossen waterfall. The waterfall is about 20 minutes’ drive from central Eidfjord. Skytjefossen waterfall has a free fall of 300 metres and is located around 12 kilometres from Eidfjord towards the end of the fjord.
