Halddetoppen (Mount)

From Kåfjord there is a permanent T-marked trail/cart road up to Mount Hálddetoppen – 904 metres above sea level. The world’s first Northern Lights Observatory was built here in 1899; but was closed down in 1926. Fantastic view across the entire Altafjord. The tour can only be made on foot and takes about 3 hours. The climb up is relatively steep. The Northern Lights Observatory is partly refurbished and offers the opportunity of overnight accommodation – sleeps 6.
