Fiskevägen, the idyllic route along the most beautiful fishing waters and salmon-filled rivers between the Swedish Mountains and Norway´s Atlantic coast. We invite you to come and see it all! Krokom, Lierne, Grong, Overhalla and Namsos.
Fiskevägen is the name for the idyllic route between Krokom in Sweden and Namsos in Norway featuring an almost never-ending array of natural experiences, including opportunities to go hunting and fishing. The route takes you past beautiful fishing waters and rivers famed throughout the world for their salmon fishing, from forest hamlets in the untamed mountain landscapes of Krokom and Lierne through the fertile valleys of Grong and Overhalla to the fjords and coastal scenery of Namsos.
The accommodation options are many and varied, ranging from a tent and caravan/camper van to snug woodland cabins and luxurious mountain hotels with full board! Whatever you are looking for and whatever your budget you will always find a great place to spend the night.
Namsen - Queen of Rivers
The river namsen and its tributaries have plentiful salmon stocks and a long established angling tradition that began with visiting englishmen - the so-called "salmon lords". The river offers a variety of conditions from the wild upper sections to the steadier flowing lower stretches. You can chose between exclusive packages where you stay in historical surroundings, enjoying delicious food with your own grounds and oarsmen or staying in one of the many rented cabins or campsites along the river. Whichever you prefer you will find what you are looking for in grong, overhalla or namsos.
Inland fishing
There is a good range of inland fishing on offer in all the municipalities along Fiskevägen with rivers, peaceful lakes and small mountain pools all available. Fishing permits can be bought more or less everywhere. There are exciting fishing experiences on offer in the mountain municipalities of Krokom and Lierne as well as in the municipalities Grong, Overhalla and Namsos, which are best known for their salmon fishing and have lovely fishing waters and readily available fishing permits.
Ocean fishing
Flatanger is approx 1 hour from Namsos. It is almost impossible not to land a catch in Flatanger. The most usual fish caught are cod, pollack, redfish, ling, mackerel etc. If you are skilful - or lucky - you might catch a halibut, wolf-fish, salmon, sea trout or another type of fish. You can hire boats with engines from most campsites and those who arrange ocean-fishing experiences.
