Bondhus valley is perhaps the most beautiful valley on Folgefonnhalvøya. The walk from the quay in Sundal up the Isvegen to Bondhusvatnet, where you see the Bondhus Glacier. Isvegen is a historical road that was used for the export of ice from the glacier early 1800's. From Bondhusvatnet go one further up the glacier coming down the head of the valley. Bondhus glacier comes down to 400 mo.h., and is the glacier of its outlet glaciers that move most from the plateau and down toward the fjord. The ice here is unfortunately not safe enough to go on the trip thus stopping the glacier. On the way up to the glacier can be, among other things go down in caves that states used as a hiding place when they sacked the wealthy tourists in the 1800s.
At Folgefonni Breførarlag, they aim to provide all customers with a broad experience. They would like to take you on a nature adventure as well as share knowledge of the glacier and local cultural history. The groups per guide are kept reasonably small, and this enables us to adapt the experience to suit each of the participants. They are driven by love of the glacier and a desire to let more people share the spectacular experience Folgefonna has to offer.
