The Etne landscape
The landscape in Etne is fertile and changing. The area has one of west Norway's best salmon fishing rivers, picturesque, little farming villages and great stretches of wild, beautiful scenery. New life has arrived in Etne village. Over the past few years, several new tourism companies have set up offices in the area, and Etne has a lot to offer its visitors.
Åkrafjordtunet Fjord Cultural Centre: THE ÅKRA FJORD - the gateway to Ha ugalandet and Sunnhordland
Åkrafjordtunet opened in the summer of 99. The traditional hamlet now houses a café, grocery shop, accommodation, factory sale for meat and cured meats and exhibitions of traditional artisan tools from the local area. Åkrafjordtunet lies in the heart of the Åkrafjord area, inland in Etne municipality. It is just off highway E-134 and nearby the most popular tourist attraction in the area - Langfoss waterfall, Norway's fifth largest with a total fall of 612 metres.

This is the perfect area for enjoying the wild beauty of Mother Nature, and the fishing and hunting are excellent. The Åkrafjorden area is known for its culinary traditions, and probably best known for its cured meats from Lundal, awarded the title of the best in Norway. The factory sale at Åkrafjordtunet sells both Lundal cured meats and other quality meat products. Another culinary tradition worth mentioning is the old-fashioned method of baking «lefser» or thin pancakes. The shop at Åkrafjordtunet has different types of freshly baked pancakes on sale. Åkrafjordtunet is growing increasingly popular as a stop-off for drivers and tourists, looking for good, traditional, homemade food - an unforgettable taste of West Norway.
Walk from Åkra to Eikemo in the Åkrafjordn is fantastic great outdoors experience with a pack trip by horse through beautiful mountainous landscape.
A short trip from Langfoss, the region's biggest tourist attraction. An encounter with Western Norwegian culinary and handicraft traditions - surrounded by magnificent scenery.
DISTANCES: 135 km from Stavanger.
