Deep-Sea Fishing in Northern Norway

The coast of Northern Norway is full of excellent fishing spots. Inlets, fjords, straits, currents and open sea offer a wealth of opportunity. Try your luck on a promontory or from the rocks with your rod and line. Feel the elation as they bite. Enjoy the atmosphere as you cook your catch over the campfire and feel the stillness around you. Try a boat trip and test your trolling line, handline and jig. Go for the really big ones. Feel the adrenaline running through your veins as you battle to haul your catch aboard.

Cod and saithe (coley) are the commonest species of fish here, but you also have a good chance of catching haddock, pollack, wolf fish, monkfish and halibut. In many places it is possible to hire boats and fishing tackle. Many resorts have specialised in deep-sea fishing and offer complete packages including overnight accommodation, fishing tackle and facilities for preparing and freezing your catch.

Don’t forget that the weather may be extremely changeable and it is of vital importance that you pay attention to the weather forecast and check conditions with the locals.
