An impressive reconstruction of the largest house that has been found dating back to the Viking Age. In the longhouse there is a banquet hall, a living area and an exhibition.
There is a copy of the Gokstad ship, smithy and boathouse. Wild boars, horses and sheep. Activities arranged in the summer season. Recommended for families with children.
We accept groups for a guided tour all year around.
Lofotr Vikingmuseum`s administration are situated in the former parsonage to Borge Church.
The office are open all year, from 08:00 - 15:30. Visit us, or call +76 08 49 00.
The buildings include the main dwelling, the tenant's dwelling, a cowshed and barn.
The former parsonage was built around 1930 and rebuilt when the Viking Museum was established (1993-1995).
The cowshed and barn were built in the 1950s, and we still keep animals here although part of the barn houses a minor agricultural exhibition. The tenant's house is the oldest building here (from the end of the 19 th century). It was moved to its present location in the 1920s and is used today to house the museum's workshops and equipment.
