"Easy" Blue ice hike on the Juklavass Glacier
Folgefonni Breførarlag takes you on a walk on one of Norway`s coastal glaciers. If you are physically fit and over 12 years of age, Folgefonna breførarlag welcomes you to join them. 2 daily arrangements: Blue ice hike in Juklavassbreen - a safe journey on 1000 year old ice. Price incl. boots and all necessary equipment. We offer diffrent tours from 3-6 hrs. Booking in advance or meet us at the Summer Ski Centre, depending on vacancies. For the hikes you need warm wind- and waterproof clothes, cap, gloves, sunglasses, sun lotion and lunch pack. Booking via web, phone or nearest tourist office. Daily tours until August 20th, after this date the tours are available upon request.
Blue ice hike on the Juklavass Glacier
A 5 to 6-hour blue ice hike. Suitable for anyone over 12 years old and in good physical condition. The trip will start at 11:00 by Folgefonna Summer Ski Centre (1200 m a.s.l.) in Jondal. Transport to 1400 m altitude, and then an approx. 15 min. walk across a snow-covered area before we put on glacier equipment and enter the blue ice. With transport up to 1400 m altitude, we can boast one of Norway’s most accessible blue ice areas. The icefall offers both flat, gentle ice and more challenging areas where cracks have formed. The trip is planned according to what the participants would like to experience and their physical condition. Some are looking for climbing experiences and adrenalin kicks, whereas others prefer a quiet walk in a different world. A world of ice and blue horizons. We head far into the ice, and then stop for a well-deserved break and enjoy the views over the North Sea and Rosendal Alps. To us, it is very important to recount both cultural and natural history of the area we pass through. As the hike comes to an end, we’ll walk home in the afternoon light with fjords and mountains beneath us. All glacier equipment, incl. glacier boots, is included in the price. You’ll need warm and windproof clothing and a packed lunch. Price: NOK 490.
